Kiwanis was founded in Detroit Michigan on January 21, 1915 and became an international organization the following year.

Until 1987, Kiwanis was a male-only organization. But after years of debate and growing support, women’s membership was received overwhelmingly. Service is at the heart of Kiwanis across the United States and throughout the world. Members stage nearly 150,000 service projects and raise nearly $107 million every year for communities, families and projects.

The Kiwanis Club of Marquette started August 20, 1936. We were sponsored by the Sault Ste. Marie Michigan club. They gave us a beautiful bell that we use to start and end each of our club meetings. In 2011, we marked our local chapters’ 75th anniverary. Now is a great time to get involved with Kiwanis and our many service projects in the community!
